Our Crew
Gerald Bradner
Gerald is a senior at James Madison University majoring in Justice Studies. Before starting JMU he got a jump start on his career by serving in the U.S. Army for three years as an Army Intelligence Analyst. As a native Virginian, Gerald has been able to watch the Virginia wine industry grow. He was able to join that industry when he started at Bluestone Vineyard this summer and in that short time has already proven himself a favorite with the customers.
Joy Coakley
Joy works at the vineyard usually one day a week. She has been a friend of Curt and Jackie's for almost 40 years. She works full time at Water Works Water Treatment when not at the vineyard. Joy is also a Master Gardener and has a part time business called the Weekend Florist.
Jane Cox
You will find Jane just about anywhere at Bluestone Vineyard. While the vines are dormant she will be in the tasting room pouring wine and telling you about the grapes. In the summer you might find her out tieing up or pruning vines. When she is not here you will probably find her in her day job, teaching school
Curt Hartman
Getting deeper into his second career Curt is searching for the process of making the perfect Cabernet Sauvignon.
Jackie Hartman
Jackie is another example of doing what it takes to get the job done. You will find her bottling wine, mowing the vineyard, or ordering the gifts to sell in the tasting room. When she is not at the vineyard she is usually involved in community boards and projects.
Lee Hartman
Lee started in the vineyard as a break after finishing college and discovered he liked it here. Lee does it all, vineyard work, winery work, pouring wine, even setting up our facebook page. In his off time you may find him playing his bass guitar for "Tuesdays with Murphy" at a downtown restaurant or a summer music festival.
Donna Kenney
Donna visited Bluestone Vineyard in January of 2011 for a wine tasting and enjoyed it so much she came back as a more permanent fixture in February that same year. You can now find her on the weekends in the tasting room, sharing her knowledge of the Bluestone wines with customers. Donna has joined in on the grape picking during harvest time (a highlight of her time here!), plus she’s spent some time bottling the wines, as well. So from beginning to end, Donna can tell our customers the whole story of a bottle of Bluestone wine.
Diane Moore
Diane is a busy woman. In addition to working in the tasting room here at Bluestone Vineyards, Diane works full time at RR Donnelley, serves as a mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and has a very active family life, which includes an oh-so-cute grandson. One of the things she likes most about working at the vineyard is interacting with the customers and sharing favorite wine stories.
Debbey Roadcap
The first weekend our winery opened Debbey visited to taste our wines. She now works for us part time. From picking grapes to bottling, Debbey has helped in all areas of wine making. But her favorite part is making your visit a fun time! When she isn't helping us, she is working her "day job" at a local trucking company or spoiling her two grandsons!
Sarah Smitherman
Sarah is a professor in the School of Communication Studies at James Madison University who came to the winery as a customer and was fortunate enough to have Curt and Jackie pour for her. She enjoyed the wines and experience so much that she came back a few weeks later and never left. While she's helped out with various jobs around the vineyard, including harvesting and website management/PR/marketing, Sarah's favorite part of her job is interacting with the customers as they discover Bluestone wines.
